The railway department will actively build a modern automobile logistics base, actively strengthen communication and coordination with enterprises and other means of transportation, and actively spread railway lines to more automobile roll-on wharfs and logistics centers, so that railway transportation will become a port and a large logistics center. The main collection and distribution methods lay a good foundation for the development of road-rail, iron-water combined transportation. At present, the Ministry of Railways has planned 21 large-scale regional logistics centers, and plans to build modern automobile logistics bases in Kunming, Zhengzhou, Xi'an, and Wuhan railway logistics centers to provide customers with logistics services such as transportation, warehousing and information. At the same time, the railway will also renovate some freight yards and special lines, and build a specialized automobile logistics base by improving loading and unloading conditions and increasing logistics facilities and equipment.

On the basis of existing car boxes and special vehicles, the railway department is actively developing a batch of special equipment for commercial vehicle transportation with better technical and economic performance and closer to market demand. At present, production of a 50-foot car box capable of loading 10 minivans is about to begin; a three-layer special transport vehicle capable of loading 13 cars has completed prototype trial production; special vehicles suitable for loading heavy trucks, light trucks, large vans, and construction machinery Also under development. As new large-capacity equipment is put into use, the advantages of railways in transportation prices and types of suitable vehicles will become more obvious. On the basis of the existing 19 commodity automobile transportation train lines, the railway department will add new train lines and direct trains according to market demand to provide customers with convenient and efficient transportation services.

It is reported that in European and American countries, railways are the main means of passenger car logistics, generally accounting for 35% to 50% of the total market share. Passenger car transportation with distances greater than 500 kilometers in Europe is almost entirely completed by railways. However, my country's railways only account for 7% of the total market share of transportation passenger vehicles.
